Hi, I'm Catherine, Head of Housekeeping at Ingrid Flute's Yorkshire Holiday Cottages. I wanted to tell you all about my lovely family break away in one of our cottages.

During the Christmas holidays myself and my family stayed in High Croft, a four bedroomed house which is nestled between the small picturesque village of Suffield on the North York Moors and the beautiful picture postcard village of Scalby, which is very close to the seaside resort of Scarborough. The property is just lovely, very well equipped (especially for making a Christmas Lunch) and had ample space for us all, with two bathrooms, a large kitchen/diner, an open fire in the lounge and a conservatory with country views.

The added bonus of the hot tub was such fun, during the day and at night! We spent hours in there. There's also a large garden with two patios and outdoor furniture. The owners are very friendly and had left us a delicious hamper packed full of treats and wine!

We chose to stay in Scalby near Scarborough as it is a small, pretty village with amazing views of the Moors! Should you want the beach that is only a 10-minute drive away. High croft and its location are superb for pets with ample walks and the picturesque Forge Valley and famous Dalby Forest are only a short drive away.

You can walk from the property into Scalby which is the nearest village and it is where we stumbled across the tasty gastropub 'The Plough', a traditional, very well presented bar/ restaurant perfect for families and pets. The food was delicious! It is only a 10 minute walk from High Croft into Scalby and the walk is through the countryside so it is very enjoyable.

Scarborough beach is only a 10-minute drive away. It was fully enjoyed by both children and our Labrador. And if you fancy some retail therapy, Scarborough is packed with high street shops too and there is a regular bus service to take you from the village into Scarborough's town centre. For more about what there is to do in Scarborough take a look at our guide here.

We highly recommend High Croft to anyone wanting a getaway on the Yorkshire Coast surrounded by breath-taking countryside; whether its a romantic break with hot tub, family gathering or group celebration.
