A coastal retreat located in the heart of Staithes, less than 100 metres from the seafront, where you can smell the fresh sea air and uncover the most spectacular scenery. Waverley House is the perfect property to share a holiday with family or friends.

Staithes is an old fishing village which has a unique charm. Its cobbled streets and higgledy-piggledy cottages cling to the hillside overlooking the stunning shoreline. The village is on the Cleveland Way offering cliff top walks with stunning views. Staithes has also been the location of the several TV shows including Countryfile, Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes and Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing. The Staithes Heritage Centre Museum is also well worth a visit, with its exhibits and information on Captain Cook, who lived in the village as a young man. The cottage is only 100m from the sheltered harbour with its small sandy beach. Low tide reveals vast areas of rocky seabed which can be explored on foot. Boat trips are available to fish or to watch for wildlife and the stunning scenery of the North Yorkshire moors is just a 10min drive away.

This charming, mid terraced Grade II listed property offers spacious accommodation and a wealth of original features. A small entrance vestibule opens into an open-plan kitchen/diner, a great social space in which to gather together with friends and family. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, two fridges, dishwasher and washer/drier. A set of stairs takes you down to a cosy lounge on the lower ground floor, equipped with a TV, DVD and Chromecast. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one double and one bunk room, together with a bathroom with shower over bath and separate WC. Another set of stairs leads to the second floor with the master bedroom, which has a king-sized bed and an en-suite with shower and WC. From here there’s a lovely view out to sea. The interior is enhanced by original abstract artwork by the cottage owner, who also exhibits at the Staithes Gallery, which is an impressive contemporary gallery just a few doors away.

There is a small, enclosed backyard and a bench outside the front door, but no other outside space. Luggage and shopping can be unloaded at the front door, but cars must be parked in one of the public or private car parks (Bank Top) at the top of the old village (about 500metres away) accessed via a steep hill.

We loved the location and the house -and the sea views. The decor was tasteful and neutral. Parts of the house were worn as you might expect with a period property but it was charming. The kitchen was very well-equipped. We did feel let down by some elements of cleanliness. Although the bathroom and kitchen surfaces were spotless, the dishwasher anRead mored fridge were not as clean as I would have liked and I found dried food on the floor of the downstairs carpet. Overall we were pleased with our stay Hide

Very well equipped cottage (although no provisions such as salt and pepper). Lovely building right in the centre of Staithes. Very noisy on Friday and Saturday nights due to proximity of the pub, but fine at other times. Cottage could have been a little cleaner, and looks more spacious on the photographs. However, some lovely artwork from the ownerRead more, and a spectacular view from the top bedroom. Felt it was a little on the expensive side overall. Hide

Waverley House is a great place to stay. I have nothing negative to say about it whatsoever. We stayed there in February, it was warm and cosy. Comfy sofas to watch tv. Fantastic cooking facilities.large table to share meals together. The beds were great. View from the master bedroom across the harbour and out to see was amazing, we saw dolphins.
