This delightful stone cottage on the outskirts of the pretty village of East Ayton is the ideal retreat for a small group or a couple looking for a rural idyll, with beautiful coast and country, and seaside resorts nearby. It has a lovely garden with somewhere to sit plus a summerhouse and is brimming with original features.
The cottage has heaps of character, with exposed stonework, wooden beams, and sash windows, alongside all the mod cons you need for a comfy stay. Go through the hall into the lounge, with a gas fire for cosy evenings in, a Smart TV, books, and games, and look for the carved mouse on the window seat! The homely kitchen is next door, there’s lots of storage space for food and a foldable table for sharing tasty meals, plus cupboard space for your boots and coats. On the first floor are the two gorgeous bedrooms, a country-style king with elegant decor and furniture, and a charming single with a day bed, both have TVs for lazy viewing, and there’s a family bathroom. Grab a drink and a good book and head out to the pretty cottage garden, relax in the secluded summerhouse, and enjoy the views across the River Derwent to Ayton Castle.
Head out on walks and bike rides to explore Forge Valley National Nature Reserve next to the village, head off on the coastal path and discover the Yorkshire Wolds Way. Enjoy the beautiful countryside and coast cycling some of the Moor to Sea cycle route. You’ll find shops, pubs, restaurants, and a fish and chip shop nearby and lots more in Scarborough (5 miles away), where you can spend a fun-packed day visiting the castle, Open Air Theatre, Peasholm Park, beaches, and harbour.
