Experience the splendour of the past and the comfort of the modern age when you stay at this magnificent Yorkshire manor house. One of two properties set within a Victorian country house, this five-bedroom retreat sleeps up to 10 guests, making it an excellent choice for a group getaway. Nestled in an acre of shared grounds, but with private use of a hot tub and terrace, the opulent, dog-friendly retreat is in Thorpe Audlin, 4.5 miles from Pontefract, and is well located for country walks and days out to towns and cities.

Let yourselves in via the reception hall, which doubles as a grand dining room for your celebratory meals, and make your way through to the capacious lounge, with its beautiful bay window, to play games together or choose a film on the Smart TV. Stroll through to the stylish kitchen/diner, with its high-end fixtures and fittings, to take turns at playing chef and whipping up delicious dishes. There is also a WC downstairs and a luxurious double bedroom. Climb the period staircase up to the first floor of the property to find another double bedroom, which has an en-suite shower room, a super-king, a king-size and a twin. The magnificent bathroom, with its freestanding bath, has Jack and Jill access from the landing and the super-king-size bedroom. There is also a family shower room. Spill outside to bubble in the hot tub and cook supper on the BBQ. Stroll around the grounds, watching children and pets near the pond, and looking for wildlife in the trees.

Head into the historic, market town of Pontefract to stock up on local produce, see the castle ruins and visit the museum. Arrange a trip to the National Trust’s Nostell, 6 miles away, with its Georgian house and manicured gardens to explore.
