Area Information
Cropton
Cropton is a quiet unspoilt village near Pickering, dating back to Doomsday. It is situated on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and offers easy access to the Yorkshire Moors, Coast and the Historic City of York. Many stunning walks are available in and around the village, one of the owners' fields contains the site of a Norman Motte and Bailey Castle with spectacular views of Rosedale valley, and another field is filled with wild orchids through the summer months. The New Inn at Cropton offers both bar and restaurant meals and is home to the famous Great Yorkshire Brewery, a short stroll from High Farm. The area provides plenty of opportunity for walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing, golf and swimming. North York Moors Steam Railway, located 10 minutes drive away in the Market Town of Pickering, winds its way through the dramatic Newton Dale Valley to the seaside resort of Whitby. For those looking for more adventure Flamingo Land and Go Ape at Dalby Forest are in easy reach.
