Derwent View is a pretty cottage, full of character and original features. Located in the North York Moors National Park near the stunning Forge Valley, most rooms and the garden overlook the River Derwent, giving this property its name. Popular with bird watchers, some visitors have seen 60 different species of birds in this natural environment, including kingfishers along the river. The cottage belonged to the owner’s aunt and her diaries detailing her way of life and local wildlife remain in the cottage and are a fascinating read.
Original features are plentiful here, with cosy log fires, beamed ceilings, latched doors and antique furniture. The contemporary kitchen and bathroom provide modern day comforts, whilst blending with the character of the cottage. The Hackness Grange Hotel is just across the road and is open to non-residents so you can enjoy a drink and meal here without the need for a car.
