Enjoy a magical escape in this traditional stone cottage that blends period charm with contemporary comforts. Nestled in the quaint village of Rosedale Abbey at the heart of the North York Moors National Park, this inviting property is ideal for families and groups of friends. Spend your days traversing heather-clad moorland and watching wildlife, then return here to unwind in the garden, curl up with a book in the conservatory, and enjoy sociable evenings in the elegant lounge.

Maintaining plenty of its original character, this two-storey stone cottage has been lovingly renovated to highlight its period features. Exposed stone walls, beamed ceilings, stone flooring and antique-style furniture all add to its charm. The inviting lounge is irresistible with its wooden beamed ceiling, feature fireplace, elegant selection of seating, and garden views. Meals can be prepared in the galley-style kitchen, which is well equipped for the modern chef, while the light-filled dining room is a lovely spot to share good food and conversation. Cleverly built into the original property, the conservatory offers a relaxing space for a morning cuppa or post-dinner drink, with views across the garden to the moorland beyond. Upstairs, get cosy under the covers of the country-style bedrooms. Note that one of the twin bedrooms is accessed through the double room, so it might be more suitable for families.

Rosedale Abbey is a picture-perfect village named after a medieval priory, of which only scant ruins remain. There’s a handful of pubs plus a tearoom and local store, and a nine-hole golf course. Lace up your hiking boots and explore the many trails that begin here; there’s an annual walking festival held one weekend in June. For a day on the coast, head to the seaside town of Whitby (16.5 miles), or discover the independent shops, restaurants, tearooms and attractions of the market towns of Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley (all within 14.5 miles).

A beautiful authentic cottage. Well equipped and with a lovely garden. During hot days it stayed nice and cool inside. Rosedale Abbey is a good base from which to explore the area.
