Property code: OC-W301

Set on the fringes of the lively town of Whitby, this modern semi-detached cottage offers proximity to sparkling shores, magnificent walking trails and award-winning restaurants. This sweet holiday home sleeps a small family of three and two canine companions within a stunning woodland on the Yorkshire coast.

Packed with charm and original features, this 1940s property is a welcome spot in which to relax and unwind. Light the wood burner on chilly evenings and curl up with a good book and glass of red wine. When it's time for tea, meander through to the cosy kitchen and whip up a hearty feast for three people and niblets for the pups. If the weather is working in your favour, take your dishes outside to bask in the fresh country air and admire the birds and squirrels that pop by to say hello! This is an idyllic spot for late-night tipples and early-morning coffees. When eyes turn tired, head upstairs to the bedrooms on the first floor; one double and one single, which both share the use of a shower room.

Begin your days with a stroll along the Cinder Track, an off-road route leading down to the seaside town of Whitby. This incredibly popular resort is home to the award-winning fish and chips, the dominating skyline of Whitby Abbey and links to Bram Stoker's Dracula. Enjoy a boat trip on an authentic replica of HMS Endeavour, which was sailed by Captain James Cook in the 16th century or trek the exceptionally pretty Cleveland Trail and stop at a number of traditional pubs as you go.

Lovely cottage, basic clean facilities. Just a short walk to the cinder path into Whitby. Great to watch the birds and squirrels outside. Only downside is the steps up to the cottage, not for the faint hearted.

Squirrel Acres is a lovely rustic holiday cottage. Situated a little further out from Whitby a 25-30 minute walk down the cinder track into the town but with the added advantage of having beautiful scenic walks on the doorstep in the forest and down the Whitby/Scarborough cinder track. Watching the squirrels and birds everyday was wonderful. The hoRead morest even supplied food for us to feed them. The cottage had all the equipment needed and a lovely log burner (logs provided) just what was needed on cold wintery nights. The host had even lit a fire for our arrival and provided milk and a welcome drinks. Hide

This cottage is lovely, in a great location and this was a return visit for us. It had everything we needed - but the bed/mattress needs replacing. (I really dont remember it being so uncomfortable last time!)

Lovely relaxing holiday, everything we needed for a great stay. Loved watching the many birds and squirrels. Our dog thought is was his duty to chase off the squirrels (didn't work though). All in all, a great time. Thanks.

Lovely, homely cottage in a fantastic location, close enough to walk into Whitby each day on the old railway (Cinder Track), a bit dated so would not suit everybody but this was not a problem for us, the wood burner when lit was fabulous on a cold frosty night. The only reason for a mid score was the internal pictures for the property need updatingRead more, not an issue just a suggestion. Hide
