Description

Strawberry Cottage is a cosy and luxurious converted barn complete with beams and vaulted ceilings and boasting a beautiful garden shared with the holiday cottage next door.  Strawberry cottage is situated in Nunnington which is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is close to the towns of Helmsley and Pickering both boasting a castle.  Nunnington Hall, a National Trust Elizabethan manor house with its renowned collection of miniature rooms and pretty gardens along the banks of the River Rye, is within the village as is a craft centre and tea rooms.

This well-equipped cottage is light and airy and has a beautiful garden shared with the holiday cottage next door and boasts views over the Vale of Pickering to the North York Moors beyond.  In the summer visitors are encouraged to pick their own veg from the vegetable gardens. The beamed living room has a wood burning stove to cosy up in front of on those chilly winter evenings after a day out sightseeing and the kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need to prepare a home cooked meal.

This lovely cottage would make an ideal retreat for couples to enjoy the North York Moors and the Howardian Hills.  You are spoilt for choice in this area of Yorkshire.  Whatever your interests there is something for everyone, historic castles, even older abbeys, museums, farms, walking, cycling, superb local markets with the very best Yorkshire produce and of course restaurants and tea rooms too numerous to mention.

GROUND FLOOR:
Entrance hallwayDouble glass doors lead into the entrance hall where you will find a hall cupboard, coat hooks and a lovely stone flagged floor with an exposed stone wall and ceiling beams. A great place to store your muddy boots after a day’s walking in the hills.
Kitchen: The beamed kitchen is very well equipped and boasts Oak worktops, painted grey units with decorative columns and tongue and groove wall panelling.  You will find a fridge with ice box, ceramic hob, and integrated electric oven with grill, a dish washer, microwave, Nespresso machine, stylish Belfast sink with Victorian style taps, (a  washer, tumble dryer and freezer is available in the garage).  A welcome pack is included.
Lounge: This room has a beautiful stone flagged floor and feature wall and ceiling beams with a cosy woodburner in a stunning fire surround.  Luxuriously furnished with a leather armchair, large sofa, an oak coffee table and chest of drawers and a TV with Freeview, DVD, iPod docking station and stereo.  This room is extremely stylish and is a super room in which to sit and relax after a day in Yorkshire.
Bedroom: An elegantly furnished room with a black and brass framed metal king size bed, with luxurious Egyptian cotton bed linen, Feather & Down bedding and matching tartan pillows and blinds.  It has timber floorboards and more feature beams.  You will also find plenty of storage with a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables.
Bathroom: There is a step down into another stylish room with a double ended bath with shower attachment, a basin, and toilet complete the sanitaryware.  Provided are robes, slippers, toiletries and towels.

Pets: 1 small to medium sized dog welcome. Dog welcome pack provided.
Parking: Private off-road parking.
Garden: A real feature of this property. A traditional large country garden with a vegetable plot for your use (in season). You will also find garden furniture and a barbecue, great for long summer evenings. The garden is shared with the holiday cottage next door.

Located on the edge of the North York Moors and the Vale of York, the beautiful village of Nunnington is a picture perfect village in which to enjoy a relaxing break away. On your doorstep is the stunning National Trust manor house of Nunnington Hall with its walled garden and extensive grounds. Plus a great selection of lovely restaurants and pubs can be found in the area if you fancy a meal out.

Slightly further afield the charming market town of Helmsley is only 4 miles away with its traditional pubs, quaint tea rooms, medieval castle, National Centre for Birds of Prey and Duncombe Park. The historic city of York can be found just 25 miles, where you can indulge in some retail therapy and more sightseeing. Or why not take a steam train ride from Pickering on the North York Moors Railway. There’s also an abundance of walks and cycle routes nearby for those that love the great outdoors.
