Scalby is a traditional village located three miles north of Scarborough. The village's streets are steeped in history, with one of Yorkshire's oldest churches, St. Laurence's, erected in 1150 situated there. It is separated from Scarborough by the beautiful Scalby Beck, which flows to the North Sea by the old Scalby Mills. Bisected by the A171 Scarborough to Whitby road, the older part of the village is west of the main crossroads and is focussed around a small but busy High Street. There are two traditional pubs and two restaurants leaving plenty of options to eat out.
Beautiful house in a beautiful location. Everything that was needed was available, highly recommended. The games room is a brilliant bonus that everyone enjoyed.
Beautiful property and welcoming owners.
Comfortable, spacious and well equipped house for 3 generations of our family. The pool table was a real bonus for the adults. Friendly owners on hand (next door) if you need any help. Super, peaceful location, just a short walk to a village pub with good food. Within driving distance of a great many attractions for all the family.
Situated on the outskirts of the popular resort of Scarborough, pretty Scalby village makes a tranquil spot to tour the sights of the Yorkshire coastline. With a quaint beck running through the village, it's lovely to explore the village on foot and the two popular local pubs, local store, church and local restaurants are located at the centre of the village or within easy walking distance. There are also tennis courts, a bowling green and playing fields to be found here, ideal for cricket or football on an evening. A regular bus service links you to Scarborough while the 'cinder track' (where the old railway used to run) connects you to the popular town of Whitby further up the coast which can be enjoyed on foot or by bike with some breathtaking coastal views along the way.
