This property is a stunning holiday home filled with character, offering guests luxurious accommodation and fantastic views over the Esk Valley. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway's steam trains can be seen winding their way through the valley on their way to and from Whitby. Dating from the 1800s, this beautiful property exudes quality and feature details. The wooden floors, beamed ceilings and oak doors are just the beginnings of the character of this cottage.

As you walk through the entrance, you’ll find a cloakroom and laundry room for convenient WC breaks and washing. The sitting room has three large comfortable sofas, a real fire in a stone surround – perfect for relaxing in front of on cooler evenings – and large Smart TV with Netflix and a DVD player. An Apple iPad is provided so you can stream Apple Music through the Bluetooth speakers. Patio doors lead to a stone patio area with stunning views of the Esk Valley, and a path leads from here down to the garden. The enclosed lawned rear garden has flowers and shrubs, a patio area with furniture and a balcony with furniture. The front garden with a patio catches the morning sun, and there’s a Weber BBQ that provides an alternative to kitchen-cooked meals. There are even fruit trees - help yourself when in season! Back inside, back through the lounge and down two steps to the open-plan kitchen/diner. The kitchen has oak units and granite work surfaces, with a range of appliances. The dining area has a generous dining table and six chairs. A large sofa provides comfortable seating for those not busy in the kitchen. Patio doors lead out to a large decked balcony with metal railings (made by the local blacksmith) to maximise the enjoyment of the views over the fields and the valley. Finishing the ground floor is the first bedroom, a king-size with a Smart TV and an en-suite shower room. Moving up to the first floor, two more bedrooms await. Both are king-size with Smart TVs and en-suite shower rooms.

The cottage is in the village of Sleights, a perfect location for a Yorkshire holiday, within the North York Moors National Park and close to Whitby and the heritage coastline. It’s situated away from the main road on a quiet lane leading to Grosmont (2.5 miles), a typical Yorkshire village and the location of the engine sheds for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. In Sleights, you will find a small supermarket, a bakery, a delicatessen, a butcher, a fish restaurant and a couple of pubs which serve food. Whitby is just 4 miles away and has a wealth of attractions including the world-famous Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula. It’s a delightful old town filled with local shops and a superb range of restaurants and tea rooms.

We had a lovely time thank you so much. The Piggery is fantastic although the upstairs bedrooms are very, very small. Great if it's just one person in each - which it wasnt. A tad on the expensive side - the most weve ever paid for one week and weve stayed in equally fabulous places. 9.30am is a ridiculously early check out - never had to check outRead more anywhere so early on the day of leaving. Overall though a great place and the views are priceless. If possible, could I request a refund for one of the dogs? We paid for two but heartbreakingly my lovely dog Eric died suddenly a couple of days before. ?? Hide
