Property code: OC-WA796

Cosy and quaint bursting with charming characterful features, this stone-built cottage situated along the high street in the historic fishing village of Staithes is perfectly placed to explore everything the Yorkshire coast has to offer, from long scenic walks to miles of sandy beaches.

After a long day exploring your surroundings, soothe weary walking muscles beside the roaring wood burner housed inside the feature fireplace in the cosy lounge, or as the evening draws in, unwind on the comfy sofa in the second lounge. Answer the rumble of hungry tummies downstairs in the basement by whipping up a delicious locally sourced meal in the contemporary farmhouse-style kitchen/diner to feed the crowd seated around the rustic wooden dining table. When you can’t resist the call of bedtime any longer, you have two bedrooms across the first and second floors, which both feature a peaceful neutral colour palette and charming characterful features that’ll send you into a peaceful slumber before tomorrow’s adventure. Before bedtime, soak up the distant sounds of the sea rolling in by dining alfresco in the enclosed courtyard.

Sheltering under towering cliffs with fisherman’s cottages clinging to the banks of Roxby Beck, it’s easy to see why the fishing village of Staithes has been attracting photographers for decades, alive with winding streets and cliff-top paths with breathtaking sea views. Hunt for fossils at Staithes harbour beach less than half a mile away or join the Cleveland Way National Trail for some spectacular sea views. Join one of the footpaths from the village to journey along to coast to reach Whitby (11 miles) to follow in Bram Stoker’s Count Dracula’s footsteps and climb the 199 steps to the ruins of Whitby Abbey or uncover the charming cobbled narrow streets and Gothic culture around the town.

Spacious 4 storey property with a multitude of rooms to relax in and a nice outdoor sport. It was only a short walk from the beach which was perfect for our dog.

Thornwick cottage was gorgeous. I havent stayed in a. Holiday cottage for a long time, and was delighted with this. The standard of decor and furnishings was very high and it was spotlessly clean. Would love to go back sometime.
