This was the second time we have visited 11 St Johns over the Christmas period and both times we have thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The property is a credit to the owners and a credit to the housekeeper who keeps it so clean. It is immaculate. The location is perfect very close to all the amenities.
We have stayed in this property several times now and it is always our first choice. It is extremely spacious, clean and comfortable. It is close to all the attractions without being noisy and is handy for the local supermarket. It is probably the best-equipped kitchen I've stayed in on holiday. Highly recommended.
Fantastic property enough room for everyone to have their own space.
The property was lovely and clean and very central to Whitby town centre. A lovely touch on arrival (as we did arrive later than planned) was milk, tea, coffee and biscuits which were very welcome after our long drive.
Very comfortable, very clean, everything a family with kids needs was in the apartment, beautiful view from the master bedroom.
Everything you need for a home from home stay, so we are staying again next year.
Perfect and great quality property for our family. Great location and included everything that we needed. Great to feel at home whilst away from home!
Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. The river Esk flows through the town to the sea and cottages are perched on the hills on each side, with cobbled streets and historic yards providing a maze of places to explore. The town has a fantastic mix of modern shops and services, traditional stores and boutique shops. Whitby jet continues to be made into beautiful jewellery and sold in a number of shops. There are plenty of excellent restaurants which serve local fish and seafood, as well as a wonderful choice of cafes and tearooms.
The ruins of Whitby Abbey stand dominantly on the clifftop and can be reached by climbing the 199 steps from the old town. The Abbey is said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stoker's novel Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town, harbour and coastline. Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. A statue of this great explorer stands proudly above the town, along with some huge whalebones, a sign of the town's maritime history. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch of the day.
There's always something happening throughout the town, with festivals and fairs are held throughout the year. These include Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta, and there are two popular Goth festivals each year.
