Previous Customer,

Had a lovely 3 night stay in Swallow yurt. slept and ate so well the food here is amazing . a real chill and tonic just what we needed.

Previous Customer,

Jo & Steve, what an amazing find! You have been amazing hosts and the yurts were incredible. Every little detail thought out and nothing was to much, even when we arrived late and you still offered dinner at short notice. Lottie had an amazing time running around and feeding the chickens and collecting eggs. It is so lovely seeing the kids get to be more 'free range' but in a safe environment so thanks for that. And Molly dog enjoyed herself greatly. Hot tub = winner! Loved it Thanks again for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back very very soon! Love the Ash clan

Past Customer,

A really enjoyable experience with 1st class. The hospitality was out of this world! The hot tub was a lot of fun and added to our enjoyment joined by my family to celebrate my 70th birthday I can see this becoming an annual event

Previous Customer,

Absolutely lovely!

Ms Jo W,

We had the most wonderful weekend away staying at the yurt. Thank you for fitting us in so last minute. A truly luxurious glamping experience surrounded by spectacular scenery. The personal small touches such as marshmallows and local preserves made us feel really welcome. The hosts were lovely and the homemade food, both breakfast and diner was exceptional. Bella the puppy had a wonderful adventure and she loved making friends with Tiny and Snoopy! Again thanks for a lovely stay. Heather and Adam

Past Customer,

We stayed here with a group of friends, kids and dogs and used three yurts. We ate our fill of Jo and Steve's homemade pizza baked in the outdoor pizza oven - gorgeous - and then had marshmallows toasted at our fire pit. The weather was great so we had a few games of rounders and then drinks outside while the kids were kept amused by the pigs and hens and played in the field until it got dark. The yurt itself was amazing, clean, spacious, warm and very comfortable. With two adults and two teenagers we still had plenty of space. We didn't use the fire as it wasn't cold but I can imagine that on a wet day it would be lovely to use the log burner, close the door and listen to the rain while you stay cosy and warm. I'd be quite happy to come back in the rain! Our beds were great too. The kids loved their pull out beds and we all slept well. We stayed in Swallow Yurt and the theme continued inside, with swallows carved into the wooden bed and swallow place mats. Breakfast in the morning was …… we sat outside eating and admiring the beautiful views of Wensleydale. This was a real treat. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this for couples, families or large groups.

Kathy L,

WOW, WOW, WOW, what a place, our stay in Swallow Yurt was absolutely fantastic, so luxuriously furnished and I had the best nights sleep for a long time in the stunning wooden bed with the best mattress ever !!. we sat around the fire pit in the evening listening to the local wildlife and chatting away, it was almost 2 in the morning when we realised the time, such a relaxing experience. There are 5 yurts at this property, 2 of them have a hot tub, so this would be an ideal place for families or groups of friends looking to holiday together but still have their own space, the log burner made the yurt so cosy and warm. Will definitely go again with a group of my friends. Thank you Jo & Steve for making us feel welcome,

Mrs Wendy C,

Area Information

Askrigg
The small Wensleydale village of Askrigg is an idyllic location to enjoy a self-catering break. The sights of the Yorkshire Dales National Park surround you, with the bustling market towns of Hawes, Leyburn and Northallerton being just a short drive away where you'll find lovely independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The village is famous for being the setting of fictional Darrowby in tv's All Creatures Great and Small, though in the 18th century was hive of industry when it became a centre for the textiles and knitting trade. It is also thought that Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in Askrigg's Nappa Hall before being moved further down the dale to Castle Bolton. Today in the village you'll find three pubs, The Crown Inn (which dates back to 1850), The White Rose Hotel and the Kings Arms. The village also is home to some great tea rooms such as Humble Pie Fawcett & Guy a village bakery with a delicatessen and coffee shop. Askrigg also has a village store and newsagents.
