Description
Galloping into contention in the heart of a popular racing town serving up a full suite of historical and sporting connections is Gallowa’s Cottage. Quintessentially cosy and characterful, the odds are on and the going is easy.
Front runner
Sympathetic to its history and to its location, Gallowa’s Cottage has been superbly refurbished for guests visiting Middleham and this part of the Yorkshire Dales. This is Yorkshire’s horse racing country and the horse racing references in the cottage abound for those who know the sport yet are subtle enough not to bother those who don’t.
You’ll want to sink into the sitting room sofa and curl up in front of the Victorian fireplace while the kettle boils or the Wensleydale and wine ease you into an evening of quiet time. The country cottage style kitchen has all you’ll need to rustle up a delicious supper if the call of the town’s friendly pubs don’t call you first. The window seats in each of the bedrooms draw you to gaze upon the town from a bird’s eye view. Imagine life in this bustling market town in times gone by, then and now you can watch the horses head between stables and gallops on a daily basis.
Into the pretty courtyard garden and you’ll find a summerhouse for a peaceful afternoon in the sunshine or an idyllic breakfast spot. A pet friendly property, the cottage welcomes three furry friends to explore the countryside with you too.
A history of horse race training and Grand National winners aside, this pretty market town also has connections to Richard III and the town’s imposing castle put it on the regal map many moons ago. There’s really no shortage of sites and experiences before you even consider pulling up your socks and wandering off in your walking boots.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Don’t be deceived by the cosy cottage vibes of Gallowa’s Cottage, it is superbly spacious presenting four beautiful bedrooms over two floors, sleeping seven guests.
