With its welcoming atmosphere and stylish decor, it’s hard to believe this quirky holiday home used to be a byre. It’s located in a rural spot and surrounded by natural beauty, offering true rest and relaxation to visitors. There’s a stream flowing through the garden teeming with wildlife, including kingfishers and pheasants – a truly delightful spot for a replenishing break away from life’s stresses and strains. With room for three human guests and two dogs, it’s ideal for a couple or a small family.

The semi-detached cottage, which was built in 1678, is attached to the owners’ farmhouse. It retains a number of original features, such as dark wood ceiling beams and raw stonework. You’ll enter the property into a lovely light-filled conservatory which is perfect or dining or relaxing with a book – rainy days, no problem! Continue into the lounge/diner, which contains more armchairs and a second spot for tucking into meals. Next to this, you’ll have a well-equipped kitchen that has everything you need for meal prep during your trip. The property is surrounded by an enchanting established garden that’ll really come into its own in fine weather. To access the seating area, cross over the sweet bridge and enjoy food or snacks in the fresh air, soaking up your surroundings.

With its enviable location within the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the property has with wonderful walking trails easily accessible nearby. The nearest pub and shop are 2 miles away. Head to Stocks Reservoir (5 miles) to discover scenic routes, or lose yourself in Gisburn Forest (3 miles), which is also fun to explore on mountain bikes. Within the Yorkshire Dales, we recommend the sites of Scaleber Force Waterfall (11 miles) and Malham Cove (15 miles), which are ideal for visiting with energetic pets.

Really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage and its stunning location, despite the weather from storm Gerrit over the Christmas period. We are in the process of booking again for a week or two in the summer of 2024. The owners are very helpful and friendly without being intrusive.

Lovely cottage. Great location the area is gorgeous. The cottage had everything you could wish for in terms of comfort and equipment. Towels, chews, bowls and dog bags were provided and owner was very welcoming.

A beautiful old cottage in a quiet rural setting with a babbling beck running through the garden. Plentiful birds flying in and out of the trees. A lovely welcome basket of eggs, home grown tomatoes, porridge, soup and milk. On a rainy day it is very relaxing to sit in the conservatory reading and watching the birds and the beck. Loved the location of this cottage. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place to stay. We had a lovely welcome from the owners and they were very helpful during our stay with advice on the area. The goody basket on arrival was a really nice touch. Cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed for our weeks stay.

Buttercup cottage is a well converted old building, in beautiful surroundings. It was very comfortable, quiet and had everything we needed. The owner was available to show us round and in case of any need. We had a great stay, exploring the local area and relaxing in the cottage.

The owners of this cottage went above and beyond to be as helpful and welcoming as possible. The cottage was well outfitted with all that you could need to have a good holiday. It was a perfect holiday retreat and well situated for excursions into Lancashire, Yorkshire and the Lake District. I highly recommend this lovely place.

This is a lovely cottage in a fabulous location, giving easy access to both the Dales and the Forest of Bowland, and is in a lovely area in its own right. The cottage is clean, well equipped, quiet and comfortable. The owner, who lives in the main house, is friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. During the day time the conservatory lets in Read moreplenty of light and at night with the curtains closed it was very cosy. We hope to come back in Spring or summer to be able to make more use of the conservatory and garden. Thank you for a very enjoyable week. Hide

We wanted peace and quiet, and found it at Buttercup Cottage. The cottage is delightful and the gardens are beautiful, with plenty of birds to watch. Ideally situated for exploring the Dales and the Bowland area. We were made to feel very welcome by the owner, a truly relaxing break. Would recommend.

The property is located by a small stream on the North Yorkshire and Lancashire border. The cottage adjoins the owners property and dates to 1667. It has modern appliances and is well presented.
